The African Forum for Research and Education in Health Limited by Guarantee (AFREhealth) has commissioned Star Sight Energy Limited to install an ultra-modern solar system worth $58,690.00 to improve the energy system at the School of Medicine and Dentistry and School of Public Health block at the KNUST main campus.

Speaking on this infrastructural development, Mrs. Georgina Yeboah, the Executive Director of AFREhealth mentioned that the project is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/Fogarty International Center, USA grant to AFREhealth.

 The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the School of Public of Public Health, KNUST has conducted an interview session to select exceptional and qualified students for Master of Philosophy in Field Epidemiology and Applied Biostatistics for the 2022/2023 academic year on the 6th and 7th of December 2022. 

Professor Emmanuel Kweku Nakua has been appointed as new the Vice Dean of the School of Public Health (KNUST) Kumasi, Ghana. He assumed office on the 1st of November, 2022.

He is an alumnus of KNUST and obtained his PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.

The College of Health Sciences, KNUST showcases the innovative projects and products at the 4-day Science and Technology Exhibition which was held from Tuesday, 10th May 2022 to 14th May 2022 at the Great Hall. This forms part of activities to mark the 70th Anniversary celebrations of the University.

The German-West African Centre for Global Health and Pandemic Prevention (G-WAC) in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has held a day’s orientation for its students on 18th May, 2022 at the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences Board Room, Boadi.

The program was aimed at orienting students on the G-WAC scholarship, course registration for PhD students, the program duration, the reporting timeline and appointment of supervisors, among others.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) have commenced a two-week training program for 29 Ghanaian Sign Language Instructors on the 19th of April 2022 at the Centre for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies to develop their skills and knowledge for quality teaching of others interested in Ghanaian Sign Language (GhSL).

Richard Aboagye, the overall best student in academics at the School of Public Health has received a custom-made hearing aid as part of his reward at the just ended College of Health Sciences Excellence Awards on the 12th April 2022 at the Provost’s Office.

The presentation was made by the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Christian Agyare, and assisted by Professor Samuel Newton, Dean of the School of Public Health, and Dr. Akosua Agyemang - Prempeh, an Audiologist from the Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat (EENT).

The Wellness Coordinating Team of the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has organised four-day hypertension and diabetes screening for its staff across the various Schools and Faculties of the College from the 14th to 18th February 2022. They also went through Blood Pressure monitoring, Weight, Height, and Body mass index checks.

The CHS Wellness Coordinating team which was constituted by the College Provost, Professor Christian Agyare, has the mandate to prioritise the wellness of the College staff.

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) through its Department of Health Promotion and Disability Studies, and the Steering Committee of the GNAD-KNUST Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held a bilateral meeting with the Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) at the CHS boardroom on 15th February 2022, to deliberate and fashion out modalities for the implementation of a training of trainers programme for Ghanaian Sign Language (GhSL) Instructors in Ghana.
