The College of Health Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), proudly celebrates the academic achievement of Prof. Wisdom Kwadwo Mprah, who has recently been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in Disability and Rehabilitation Studies. This remarkable achievement not only marks a milestone in his professional journey but also establishes Prof. Mprah as the first Ghanaian deaf professor, a historic moment that continues to inspire perspectives on disability and academic excellence.

Esther Senanu Folitse, a second-year Master of Philosophy student specializing in Health Systems Research and Management at the School of Public Health, KNUST has been selected as a beneficiary of the inaugural Graduate Students Association (GRASAG) Research Fund (GReF).

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, College of Health Sciences management board and provost have made a donation of GH₵ 125,000 to the HEAL Komfo Anokye Project.

The HEAL KATH Project aims at renovating the 70-year-old Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

KNUST intends to supply its specialized skilled professionals at its Faculty of Built Environment to assist with the ongoing renovation project.

 Selected doctoral candidates at the College of Health Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology are being equipped with essential skills to rigorously analyze existing research on specific topics for informed decision-making.

The initiative is led by the Health Employment pillar of the Africa Higher Education Health Collaborative in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, under the leadership of Dr. Kofi Akohene Mensah.

Professor Richard Odame Phillips, a professor of medicine, has called for an aggressive drive to raise more research funding to support Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and graduate programmes. 

Scientific research innovations, according to him, were critical to balance well-being and contributed immensely to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). There is therefore the need for adequate investment in doctoral research programmes to meet at least the one percent standards set by UNESCO in its report. 

 The College of Health Sciences, KNUST held its second postgraduate conference at the Boadi Medical Village on June 5th and 6th, 2024 to encourage research activities and Scientific Innovations. The event, themed "Harnessing Postgraduate Research to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals," attracted over 500 postgraduate students from the College of Health Sciences and other colleges in KNUST.

 The College of Health Sciences (CHS) on 10th May 2024, awarded GH¢108,000 to nine early-career researchers through its grant award scheme. Each recipient received GH¢12,000 to support their research projects, which are to be completed within 12 months. The scheme, initiated by the Office of the Provost, aims to help researchers practice for larger grant applications.

A recent study conducted by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has shed light on the alarming statistics surrounding drowning incidents in Ghana. The research reveals that an estimated 1,360 individuals succumb to drowning annually in the country.

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi held the "2024 CHS Excellence Awards Ceremony" on Wednesday, 27th March 2024, at the Great Hall of the University. The event aimed to appreciate hard-working staff, students, and notable alumni who have excelled in various fields.
