The Ministry of Health (MoH), in collaboration with the School of Public Health at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi and the Technical University of Berlin (TUB), convened a two-day Health Sector Policy Dialogue at Rock City Hotel, Kwahu. This high-level Policy Dialogue which took place between the 24th to 27th of September 2023 aimed to tackle the critical issue of healthcare workers migration from Ghana and its profound impact on the country's healthcare system.

The College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi has commissioned a 30-kilowatt solar panel system worth Sixty-Thousand Dollars ($60,000) at the KNUST School of Medicine and Dentistry (KSMD). The solar panel system was executed by the African Forum for Research and Education in Health (AFREhealth), and designed by Starsight, a Renewable Energy Company.

The Student Handbook is compiled for all students taking the public health programme at the school - Master of Science, Master of Public Health, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy students. It is intended to serve as a guide for studies and provides other necessary information.

Ghana has recorded a total of 1,449 drowning cases in the last three years, a research study on drowning presented by researchers from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on the 10th February 2023 in Accra has revealed.

Conducted in partnership with Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Foundation with funding from the Bloomberg Philanthropies in 52 coastal, inland water and dry districts, the research study was based on four primary objectives.

To facilitate the academic pursuits of students with disabilities, the Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson has commissioned the newly constructed office complex at the Disability and Rehabilitation Studies Centre on Thursday, 2nd February 2023.

 A delegation from the World Health Organisation (WHO), Ghana paid a courtesy visit to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), College of Health Sciences (CHS) to discuss plans to partner with the University to establish a hub for health economics capacity building. On Wednesday, 8 February 2023, a meeting was held with the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Christian Agyare to discuss the modalities for the partnership.

The African Forum for Research and Education in Health Limited by Guarantee (AFREhealth) has commissioned Star Sight Energy Limited to install an ultra-modern solar system worth $58,690.00 to improve the energy system at the School of Medicine and Dentistry and School of Public Health block at the KNUST main campus.

Speaking on this infrastructural development, Mrs. Georgina Yeboah, the Executive Director of AFREhealth mentioned that the project is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/Fogarty International Center, USA grant to AFREhealth.

 The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the School of Public of Public Health, KNUST has conducted an interview session to select exceptional and qualified students for Master of Philosophy in Field Epidemiology and Applied Biostatistics for the 2022/2023 academic year on the 6th and 7th of December 2022. 

Professor Emmanuel Kweku Nakua has been appointed as new the Vice Dean of the School of Public Health (KNUST) Kumasi, Ghana. He assumed office on the 1st of November, 2022.

He is an alumnus of KNUST and obtained his PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.
