The African Forum for Research and Education in Health Limited by Guarantee (AFREhealth) has commissioned Star Sight Energy Limited to install an ultra-modern solar system worth $58,690.00 to improve the energy system at the School of Medicine and Dentistry and School of Public Health block at the KNUST main campus.
Speaking on this infrastructural development, Mrs. Georgina Yeboah, the Executive Director of AFREhealth mentioned that the project is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/Fogarty International Center, USA grant to AFREhealth.
The first phase of the project, which included the installation of the carport and solar panels has been completed. The project is expected to be completed by April 2023.
AFREhealth is an inter-professional health grouping that works to achieve excellence in health professionals' education, research, and service by influencing a new interprofessional standard that will result in sustainable and continuous quality improvement for the African population It is a network of institutions and individuals from all the geographic and linguistic regions of Africa. It was launched by the joint leadership of the Medical Education Partnership Initiative (MEPI) and the Nursing Education Partnership Initiative NEPI in 2016.
Membership is open to all African health professionals and institutions that support its mission and vision.
