Mr. Ernest Akwasi Appiah, the Managing Director of Enepa Ventures Limited and Agricultural Manufacturing Group (AMG) has presented a cheque of Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 500,000) to the School of Public Health (SPH) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Tuesday, 19th October 2021.
Mr. Appiah, the entrepreneur, explained that the generous donation was made in response to a request made by Dr. Eli Gaveh, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Horticulture, to help complete some ongoing projects in the University. Mr. Appiah further stated that each academic year, he intends to grant scholarships to deserving SPH students. He said this gesture is in line with his passion to support students and, that, financial challenges should not be the limiting factor in keeping students in schools. As a result, he stated that he will continue to help students in such situations.
On behalf of the University, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ellis Owusu-Dabo received the cheque and thanked Mr. Appiah for his considerate gesture. He assured him that the money would be put to good use and due recognition would be given him for his kind gesture. He welcomed other well-meaning Ghanaians and corporate bodies to emulate what Mr. Appiah and AMG have done.
In terms of scholarship awards, Prof. Owusu-Dabo explained that there are stringent criteria in place for identifying outstanding but underprivileged students, assuring the delegation from AMG that the scholarships would be given to worthy beneficiaries.

The Dean of the School of Public Health, Prof. Samuel K. T. Newton, reiterated that the funds will help expand infrastructure for public health education at KNUST, increase enrolment and help enhance research on current public health challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
In another meeting, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Prof. (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson was delighted with the support. She gave firm commitment of the University to support AMG with excellent publicity to increase its brand position in the University, research, and product development.
AMG is Ghana's largest indigenous manufacturer and distributor of high-efficiency and high-performance crop fertilizers, having been established in 2012. They provide crop nutrition product/strategy that ensures high yields to small and large-scale farmers by implementing less expensive, but highly effective crop nutrition combinations, better crops, raise farmer returns, improve farmers livelihoods and ensure food security and sustainable development. AMG expanded its operations to aid in the strengthening of Ghana's economy and empower farmers across the sixteen (16) regions and 256 districts in the Country through the Planting for Food and Jobs Policy among others.
